1. How do I obtain an accident report?

2. How do I report a crime?

To report a crime, please call (785) 625-1011. If it is an emergency, please call 911. You can report a crime online here. If you wish, you may come to the police department and report the crime, if it occurred within the city limits of Hays, KS. If the crime occurred outside the city limits but still inside Ellis County, KS, please go to the Ellis County Sheriff's Office.

3. How can I file a compliment or complaint with the Hays Police Department?

You can compliment or file a complaint against an employee of the Hays Police Department by calling (785) 625-1030, or in person at 105 West 12th Street, Hays, KS. You can also fill out our Compliment/Complaint form here: Compliment/Complaint Form

4. Where can I pay a Municipal Court ticket?

If the ticket is from the Hays Police Department, you need to go to the Hays Municipal Court located at 105 West 12th Street, or call (785) 625-1070. If it is a Kansas Highway Patrol or Ellis County Sheriff's Office ticket, you need to go to the Ellis County District Court located at 107 West 12th street, or call (785) 628-9415.

5. How can I schedule a ride along with an officer?

To schedule a ride along with an officer, please contact the on-duty Lieutenant at (785) 625-1030 during business hours. (Monday through Thursday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.)

6. How do I obtain a driver's license check?

You may contact the local Division of Motor Vehicles. The Hays Police Department does not provide driver's license checks.

7. Where can I have my fingerprints taken?

The Hays Police Department does not offer fingerprinting services for employment purposes, background checks, or Concealed Carry Licensing. Please contact the Ellis County Sheriff's Office for fingerprinting services at (785) 625-1040.

8. How can I register my party?

To register your party, please visit the Hays Police Department at 105 West 12th Street, Hays, KS. If you are a student at Fort Hays State University, please register your party here: www.fhsustudents.org/resources/register-your-party/. You must register your party 48 hours before your party.
