[ARCHIVED] Hays PD Media Release: Recovered Property

Don Scheibler
Chief of Police
Hays, KS

David Gillan
Hays Police Department
(785) 625-1030

DATE: February 22, 2022

SUBJECT: Recovered Property

Recently the Hays Police Department has made a couple arrests for people breaking into local storage units. The Police Department has recovered some stolen property and is working with those victims who have already reported their storage units being broken into with getting stolen property returned to them.

Some recovered property has not been identified as reported stolen. So if you own a storage unit that was recently broken into, and you have not reported the break in and are missing property, we ask that you please reach out to Detective Dave Gillan at the Hays Police Department by calling him Monday – Thursday, 8:00 am – 3:00 pm at (785) 625-1030.

Detective Gillan will need a good description of your stolen property to cross check with the recovered property to see if it has been located. Serial numbers, model numbers, and brand names along with good descriptions of the missing item will be important to give to Detective Gillan, along with when your storage unit was broken into and the location of the storage unit.
