The Hays Police Department has an in-house training program that allows officers to obtain the majority of their state mandated training and to increase their level of professionalism. This program helps to maintain our high standards of excellence and meet the needs and expectations of the community. The State of Kansas requires that all certified officers attend at least 40 hours of continuing education each year, and the department exceeds this requirement each year with an average of 78 hours of in-service and additional training. The Hays Police Department has several trainers who are able to provide training to our in-house staff, and to the region.
