Meetings: Tentatively to be held on the 2nd Friday of the month at noon, Thirsty’s Brew Pub and Grill, 2704 Vine Street.
Special meetings may be called by the Chairman or by any 5 members of the Board by giving notice at least 24 hours in advance of said special meeting to all members of the Board.
The duties of the Sister Cities Advisory Board include supporting, coordinating, fostering and developing Sister City exchange programs of a cultural, educational, social, business, economic or governmental nature within the City of Hays. The Board raises and receives monies and accepts any gift or donation to the Sister Cities Advisory Board and administers the same, subject to the approval or satisfaction of the City Commission. They also appoint such project subcommittees as best fulfill the obligations of the Board, such as, but not limited to, trade and commerce, professional, and technical organizational relations, cultural youth and education, finance, membership, community relations, and city government. Hays currently has two Sister Cities including Santa Maria of the Missions, Paraguay and Xinzheng, China.
The Sister Cities Advisory Board consists of 10 voting members serving 3-year terms. In addition to the regular appointed members of the Board, the City of Hays Mayor and Assistant City Manager shall serve as ex-officio members with the right to participate in all its deliberations, but without voting privileges. The Mayor shall serve as honorary chairman.
