  • Install covers on pools and spas.
  • Check for leaks around your pumps.
  • Use a grease pencil to mark the water level of your pool at the skimmer. Check the mark 24 hours later to see if you have a leak. Note: Evaporation off pool can cause false alarms
  • Make sure your swimming pools, fountains, and ponds are equipped with recirculating pumps.
  • When back washing your pool, consider using the water on your landscaping or lawn.
  • Plant a wind break trees and shrubs to prevent water loss due to wind.
  • If you have a heated pool, lower the temperature a few degrees. The hotter the water, the more it evaporates away.
  • Keep pool filters clean to prevent backwash.
  • Keeping your pool clean will reduce stress on the filter.
  • Try to limit the amount of horseplay and splashing because it wastes water
  • Monitor your pools PH levels. A clean pool uses less water.
  • Turn off the fountains and waterfalls only use them when necessary.
  • Check the hydrostatic valve in the bottom of pool annually
