The Bildschön Haus was established in January 2006 by Michele and Tim Flax. What began after years of discussion and prodding by family and friends became a highly visited home decor shop in Western Kansas. German for "Beautiful House," the Bildschön Haus strived to offer decor and gifts for each and every room in your home.

There is an old proverb that says, "All good things must come to an end", and with that the Bildschon Haus family will be making some exciting changes. In January 2011 The Bildschon Haus as we have all come to know and love traveled down a different winding road. Which leads us to another old proverb that says, "Good things come to those who wait." Well wait no more, Bildschon Haus of Windows continues to operate and we will continue to bring you the beautiful custom window and bedding treatments that you have asked for. We now hope to make it even easier for you, our faithful customer, by traveling to your home with even more samples of both fabric options and Hunter Douglas window treatments.

"A taste of Germany right here in Hays"
Warren and Arlene Wittman own and operate this family business that began in September 2002. Warren has worked in the meat and sausage business for over 40 years at several local stores. When one of the local grocery stores changed owners and stopped selling German sausage, Warren thought it was a good opportunity for him to open a meat market that would specialize in authentic German sausage. The store also features brats, liverwurst, pork liver sausage, ring bologna, breakfast link sausage, beef sticks, country style sausage, zitter and seasoned ground beef. Smoked meats are also a popular item and includes: smoked pork and beef as well as smoked turkey legs and chicken. If you need special cut-to- order meat, Warren provides that service in addition to his daily selection of sliced bacon and cottage bacon, pork roasts, pork chops, country ribs and a variety of steaks. Although the variety of German sausages makes up the bulk of sales, Swedish potato sausage, Italian sausage and chorizo is also available. Stop in and check out their selection and enjoy the aroma of the freshly smoked meats.
