Who qualifies as a Federal Service voter?
- Members of the Uniformed Services or Merchant Marine on active duty or an eligible spouse or dependent.
- U.S. citizens (18 years or older) residing outside the United States.
- U.S. citizens overseas by virtue of employment or accompanying spouse or dependent.
How do I register to vote?
Contact the Election Office at 785-628-9410 or e-mail our office at elliscoclk@ellisco.net. Taking time into consideration, you can also obtain the required paperwork from your Commanding Officer or U.S. Embassy.
The completed form may be returned by mail or by fax. Mail to Ellis County Election Office at PO Box 720, Hays, KS 67601. Fax to Ellis County Election Office at 785-628-9413.
The application must be received by the Election Office no later than 15 days prior to each election.
When will I receive a ballot?
Federal Service ballots are mailed approximately 45 days prior to Election Day.
If you have not received your ballot two weeks before the election, contact the County Election Officer at elliscoclk@ellisco.net or call 785-628-9410.
The deadline for our office to mail a ballot is the Friday before each election.
How do I return ballot?
You may mail your ballot to the Ellis County Election Office in the envelope provided. Your ballot must be received by the Election Office no later than 7:00 p.m. on Election Day in order to be counted.
Why can't I use the Application for an Advance Voting Ballot on this web site?
The Application for an Advance Voting Ballot posted on this web site does not apply to Federal Service Voters. Please do not submit this application.
