One of the main objectives of the City of Hays is to find ways to conserve energy and to find more efficient ways of the getting the job done.

• Blowers - In order to conserve energy and save money, the City has removed inefficient blowers and installed high efficiency blowers while being able to reuse the existing high efficiency motors which is now saving the city approximately $4,000.00 per month in electrical costs. The city has also installed fine air diffusers, which replaced coarse air diffusers. The fine air diffusers also prolong the ability to operate the activated sludge basins on one blower.

• Trickling Filter Effluent Pumps & Raw Sewage Pumps & Raw Sludge Pumps -There are approximately 250 pumps, motors etc. to be maintained at the wastewater treatment facility.
