    Gallery-WalksThe Hays Arts Council organizes four to five gallery walks each year that showcase opening receptions at art galleries and studios as well as several retail businesses that feature arts and crafts. The Winter Gallery Walk is usually held on the third Friday of February and the Spring Gallery Walk is held the last Friday of April. Several opening receptions are typically held the 2nd Friday in June with the annual Fall Gallery Walk held the last Friday of August. The Spring and Fall Gallery Walks typically have over a dozen locations open to the public from 7-9 pm.

    Beach-SchmidtThe Fort Hays State University Encore Series is one of the premier entertainment options available in Western Kansas. The Encore Series consists of eight programs annually and features national and international professional touring artists. The series makes it possible for citizens of western Kansas to experience high caliber performances without traveling several hours to a large city and without paying big city prices.  All Encore events are held in Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center, the crown jewel of FHSU arts and entertainment.

    Felten-Start Theatre is located in Malloy Hall. This performing arts facility is home to the FHSU Players Theatre Productions and musicals. FHSU students, faculty and stFelten-Startaff and local community members have the opportunity to participate in numerous theatre productions and musicals throughout the year.  The Department of Communication Studies campus theatre organization puts on four shows per year which are typically held in October, November, March and May. In addition, several one act plays are performed by students during the spring semester.

    The Heartland Community Theater is a group of local volunteer performers, who enjoy sharing their talents through music, acting and behind the scenes work to create several family oriented shows each year.  A Christmas show is held the middle of December and a summer show is typically held in June.  See the calendar of events for more information.
