In 2009, the City of Hays pumped 649,131,500 gallons of water. In 1970, the City pumped 754,342,160 gallons of water. There are not too many communities that can say they are using a comparative amount of water that they used over 30 years ago. This shows the City and the citizens are very wise water users.

In July of 2009, the Water Plant pumped 65,358,600 gallons of water. July of 2009 showed 3.10 inches of rainfall. For the month of July 2008, the Water Plant showed 4.01 inches of rainfall.

The largest amount of water that was pumped in 2009 from the well field was on June 24, 2009. We pumped 3,138,800 gallons of water in a 24-hour period.

The City of Hays Water Plant is registered with the National Weather Service. In 2002, the Water Plant received a 50-year Award for Service.
