In 2010, the City of Hays pumped 684,321,800 gallons of water. In 1970, the City pumped 754,342,160 gallons of water. There are not too many communities that can say they are using a comparative amount of water that they used over 30 years ago. This shows the City and the citizens are very wise water users.

In July of 2010, the Water Plant pumped 71,983,800 gallons of water. July of 2010 showed 2.19 inches of rainfall. For the month of July 2009, the Water Plant showed 3.10 inches of rainfall.

The largest amount of water that was pumped in 2010 from the well field was on July 2, 2010. We pumped 3,290,700 gallons of water in a 24-hour period.

The City of Hays Water Plant is registered with the National Weather Service. In 2002, the Water Plant received a 50-year Award for Service.
