Over the past years, the City of Hays Wastewater Treatment Plant has received several awards for its operation.

• Kansas Water Environment Association – 1997 for Class V Plant
• Environmental Protection Agency Operations & Maintenance Excellence Award – 1997 for Operations and Maintenance Excellence Award
