Deputy Scott Braun & Taz (Dog)

Deputy Braun has been employed by the Ellis County Sheriff's Department since August of 1997 and has been assigned to the ellis County Drug Enforcement Unit since May of 1998. In May of 1999, Deputy Braun was promoted to K-9 Handler where he currently serves his department. Deputy Braun's partner is a 60 lb., three-year old male Dutch Sheperd named Taz. Taz is trained to preform evidence recovery, apprehend and track criminals as well as detect narcotics. Deputy Braun and Taz have been certified as a team since June of 2003. Since being placed in service, Deputy Braun and Taz have seized over 1,600 lbs. of narcotics with a street value exceeding $2,000,000.00. They have also seized in excess of $500,000 in cash and assets for the Ellis County Drug Enforcement Unit.
